Add a personal touch to your holiday cards this year by making your own! (It’s easier than you think!) This DIY Christmas card idea from HM Paper Design uses Aleene’s Foiling Glue to help your cards shine with sentiment and creativity. Download the patterns and use your favorite papers for an easy holiday craft that everyone in the family will enjoy making!
- Aleene’s Original Tacky Glue
- Scissors
- 3 Heavy papers in 3 different colors of choice
- Deco foil
- Patterns (included in post)
Step 1
HM Paper Design has made this DIY Christmas card idea so easy, we don’t need to spend much time explaining how to make it! Print the patterns included in this post – each onto a different color of paper, then cut all of the pieces out. Layer the pieces as indicated by the patterns and glue in place using Original Tacky Glue. (Don’t glue the ornament pieces onto the card yet.)
Step 2
To create shiny metallic effects on each ornament, first use the Foiling Glue to create dots (or other festive shapes) onto the paper ornaments according to your liking. Let the glue dry. As it dries, it will form a tacky texture.
Step 3
Once the Foiling Glue has dried, press the back of the deco foil (so shiny side up) onto the glue shapes you created on each ornament. Press and smooth firmly to make sure the deco foil adheres to the glue shapes.
Step 4
Carefully peel the foil away from the paper ornaments to reveal your shiny new designs!
Step 5
Next glue all of the ornament pieces in place on the front of the card base. Once it’s dry, this Christmas card is ready to fill out and send to someone special!
Step 6
Wasn’t this a great DIY Christmas card idea? So easy and so festive! (And looks even better than store bought if you ask us.) How are you crafting with Aleene’s Foiling Glue this holiday season? What other DIY Christmas card ideas do you have? Tag us on social @aleenesdiy and share with us!
