Let the kids get creative with this simple handmade Mother’s Day craft! Everyone loves children’s art, so give them the supplies they need and let the magic happen. This tutorial from LuLu Make will show you how to use paint, bottle caps, and Aleene’s Magnetic Tacky Dots to make unique magnets that moms, grandmothers, and all other maternal figures will cherish!
Step 1
Before your little one starts on this project, gather your bottlecaps and clean them thoroughly. Have your child pick out which colors they would like to use for their Mother’s Day craft— we recommend using acrylic paint for the base color and adding glitter paint to make it pop!
Step 2
Pour a little bit of each acrylic paint onto the plastic palette. Give your child a paint brush and let them take the lead on this simple Mother’s Day craft! Have your little one paint as many bottle caps as they’d like, but be sure to instruct them to paint only on the inside of the bottle cap.
Step 3
Once the layer of the acrylic paint is dry, it’s time to play with glitter paint. We matched the glitter paint with acrylic paint, yet with this step you can let your child’s creativity shine! The more glitter, the better. Once your child is happy with the designs, let each bottle cap dry completely.
Step 4
Your DIY Mother’s Day craft is almost done! Once all of the paint has dried completely, turn the bottle caps painted-side down. Gather the Aleene’s Magnetic Tacky Dots, unpeel the white sticker off, and press the magnetic dot onto the bottle cap. Repeat the same process until all the bottle caps have magnetic dots on them.
Step 5
Use the bottle cap magnets to display your little one’s artwork on the fridge or magnetic board! Be proud of your young artist and encourage their creativity with this Mother’s Day craft!
