Paper Plate Space Scene

Are your kids learning about outer space and some of its fantastic mysteries? There are so many phenomenons occuring out in that vast universe, explore some of these wonders like planets, stars and even extraterrestrials! This two part craft project starts with making planets from dried clear glue, then adding them to a paper plate diorama!

What you need:
  • Aleene's Clear Gel Tacky Glue
  • Paper cups
  • Glitter
  • Food coloring
  • Paper plates
  • Acrylic paint
  • Stencil brush
  • Embellishments like pom-poms and pipe cleaners

For the glue planets cut some paper cups and add a little glitter to each cup.

Put about a teaspoon of Aleene's Clear Gel Tacky Glue into separate cups. Add only two drops of food coloring. Pour the glue into the cups with the glitter, it's important that you don't stir the glue and food coloring together, you want the food coloring to look swirly. Use a craft stick to gently even out the glue. Let the glue dry really well, this will take several days. When dry peel off the cup and trim the excess. For the paper plate diorama, cut the center of one plate and paint it silver. Paint a second plate black, add in some color if you'd like. Let it dry well. Splatter paint the background with a stencil brush and white paint, this will create lots of stars. Glue on your planets and any other details you'd like. Glue on the silver plate and add a little green alien to complete the scene!
