These fluffy pom poms are handmade, which means you can customize your winter wreath with a variety of sizes and colors to match the rest of your holiday décor. Check out our step-by-step tutorial and get ready for another wonderful winter!

What you need:

Aleene’s Original Tacky Glue

Foam wreath ring

White felt

Mini Christmas house

Mini bottle brush trees

Assorted neutral colors of yarn

Cardboard

Chenille stems

Scissors

Straight pins

Step 1 Cover the foam wreath with felt

Cover the foam wreath with felt strips.

Step 1 Cover the foam wreath with felt

Cut your sheet of white felt into 2-inch strips. Apply Tacky Glue and adhere the felt strips by winding them around the wreath. Continue to wind the felt strips and glue them to the wreath with Tacky Glue until it is completely covered. Covering the wreath with felt will help the pom poms adhere to your DIY Christmas wreath!

Step 2 Make your own pom poms

Wrap and cut the yarn to create your own pom poms

Step 2 Make your own pom poms

Now you’ll make the pom poms for your DIY Christmas wreath! To make two different sizes, cut your cardboard into 3-inch and 4-inch squares. Wrap yarn tightly around either cardboard square until it’s very full— more yarn makes a fluffier pom pom! Gently pull the bundle of yarn off the cardboard and tie the center tightly with a chenille stem. Use scissors to cut the loops of yarn, then gather all the yarn in one hand and trim the ends to the same length to create a perfectly round pom pom. Repeat this step to create lots of pom poms in a variety of sizes and colors to fill your pom pom wreath! It takes approximately 40 pom poms to fill this 18-inch winter wreath.

Step 3 Glue the pom poms onto the wreath

Use Tacky Glue to adhere the pom poms to the wreath

Step 3 Glue the pom poms onto the wreath

Apply glue to the bottom of each pom pom and press into place to adhere it to your winter wreath. It helps to use a straight pin to keep the pom poms in place as the glue dries. Continue to add pom poms to the wreath until it is full, alternating in sizes and colors to give your DIY Christmas wreath some depth and dimension. Once the glue is almost dry, pull out all the straight pins.

Step 4 Finish with extra Christmas decorations
